My First Castle.

The first Sunday is Somerset was brilliantly fine and warm. Dropping the boys  off in Bovington at the TANKFEST  the 3 girls then went down to Dorset to Corfe Castle. ( a ruin   some parts 1000 years old; the South tower built in the 1300s. ) It was quite a climb up to the site.
But the views from inside were interesting. An archer might have seen something like this from his position on the castle .

The site is run by the National Trust and the lunch we had there was very wholesome and yummy.

Displays and information was housed in Medieval tents.

The village of Corfe and the Dorset country side looked beautiful. Later we drove on right down to the seaside at Swanage which was covered by a strange sea mist. Back up the Isle of Purbeck to Wareham it was time to stretch our legs have an afternoon snack and look around. To our surprise they brought out the town band and had a parade!

We visited some shops and a small church with lovely stained glass ( the first I was to see over the next days and weeks )

The kneelers in the church were all different and hand stitched.

Yes ladies there will be stitching and patchwork content on this blog ( as I get to see it, in various places we visit. )

Look at that -- they had a parade just for you LOL! When we were in Dorset we decided just to go for a "ride" in the countryside and we accidentally ended up at Corfe Castle -- it was such a wonderful little surprise. It looks like you had a great day!

Lovely weather indeed - unlike here, where it's POURING. Again.

I really would like to visit the UK and explore the countryside, I have only been to London.
